The Biggest Technological Breakthrough in Dentistry in the last 20 years significantly reduces need for dental appointments!

People today are busier than ever.  Jobs, kids, school, busy social schedules and other commitments make finding time for needed dental work a real challenge these days.  We are sensitive to our patients growing time restrictions and are constantly looking for ways to get more dental procedures done in less time without compromising quality or comfort.

One of the best solutions that we have found so far is CEREC 3D.  Cerec technology allows us to make high quality, precise fitting, metal free, all porcelain restorations in a single visit!  The result is a beautiful, natural colored restoration that will actually make your tooth stronger than it was before.

There is no need for messy impressions, temporaries that are sensitive and continually fall out and most importantly, there is no need for a second appointment or a second shot several weeks later to insert the final crown.  Recent research is showing that because the tooth is not exposed to oral bacteria for several weeks before the final cementation that post operative sensitivity is dramatically reduced with Cerec restorations vs. traditional crowns (source: Christensen Research Associates newsletter).

With Cerec 3D technology we first prepare the tooth by removing the defective filling and tooth structure.  A reflective powder coating is applied to the tooth and a picture is taken using a small camera that fits directly in your mouth.  The prepared tooth appears on a computer screen and your custom restoration is designed chair-side while you watch.  Diamond coated instruments then mill a ceramic block to exactly reproduce the design on the computer.  After polishing and trying in to verify a precise fit and contact with the other teeth, the restoration is bonded to the tooth using a special light that instantly hardens the cement.  We adjust the bite and apply a final polish and the tooth is ready for use when you leave the office.  There is no need for special precautions of any kind!
